Hi my lovelies! Over the years I have always been asked how I keep my hair so healthy and shiny. Before, the answer would always be the same, "nothing much". My haircare routine was as simple as this: I wash it (using shampoo followed up by conditioner), let it air dry and that´s it, disappointing answer, I know. Since then, nothing much has changed. I am lucky that I have good hair genes that make my hair look the way it does. My hair is normally very straight and I only straighten it if I am going for that super sleek look or if I want to curl my hair, of course.
My hair care routine
My hair is normal to slightly dry, mostly normal if you can call it that since I really don´t have any struggles with it. Like I said, I use shampoo, conditioner and finish up with a hair oil of some sort (I have tried many over the years, and I have never stuck to one brand or one product in particular) after towel dry hair. At most times, especially on a normal day-to-day situation when I don´t have big plans for the night, I normally let my hair airdry. This I do because it´s healthier for your hair to air dry and not add heat to it which can damage your hair in the long-run. One more thing that is the key to my healthy hair is that I never brush my hair when it´s wet; this is also a tip if you want to prevent it further from damaging. While my hair is still wet, I simply put my hair back with a little hairclip and wait until it´s completely dry.
I don´t care much in particular about which products I use on my hair since my hair has always had that good quality. I wanted to change things up a bit and play around with new products. I have been trying hair care products from the brand Toni & Guy for the past three weeks and I really like it. I was sent 7 products from Presskontakterna, and the range went all from shampoo, hair mask, dry shampoo, heat protector, hair oil, curly spray, and hairspray.
First of all, the Toni & Guy products have a nice and not too strong scent which I like when it comes to beauty products. I have noticed that my hair looks even smoother and fresher after using these products. Down below, I am going into details about each product that was sent to me and my review on them:
Smooth Definition Shampoo - Toni & Guy
The first time I use this shampoo, I noticed that a little goes a long way, and you don´t need much for it to easily spread onto your hair. The scent is pleasant, not too strong and the shampoo color is white (I mention this because I think it´s so cool when the shampoo is in a different color, like pink, which was the color of my last shampoo from Elvital - BTW: big thumbs up for that one too)! Maybe it´s important also to mention that I only shampoo once, I know that some people like to shampoo and rinse out twice, but I have never had the need or saw the need in that for me personally. The hair felt lightweight, soft and very nice after I had used this shampoo.
Damage Repair Hair Mask - Toni & Guy
Since I didn´t get a hair conditioner in the package, I used my own conditioner from Elvital (the pink one), and then I use the hair mask on my hair. I spread it on the lower parts of my hair and wait 3-5 min. before rinsing it out. I think it gives the hair an extra soft touch. Big thumbs up for this one!
Curl Sculpting Spray - Toni & Guy
Since I don´t have curly hair, I didn´ try this product. Therefore, I can´t review it as well as give you my honest opinion on it!
Matte Texture Dry Shampoo - Toni & Guy
This dry shampoo is a matte dry shampoo. I have used it twice by now, and I must admit that I don´t really like this product. I always tend to have a little problem when it comes to dry shampoos and I don´t reach for them that much, and the problem is that it leaves my hair in a light gray tone on my dark brown hair, which I am absolutely not a fan of. If this was the only problem, that would be ok, but it´s not. Since the product is matte I felt like it dried out my hair completely through the day and not in the good way you would think that a dry shampoo does the job. Nope. I felt like my hair was itching and very stiff from using it. If any of you guys have tried it out I would love to hear your opinion on this product, and maybe I would give it a third chance?
Heat Protection Mist - Toni & Guy
To be honest, I haven´t used a heat protector in a few years. ups. I know.. But the good thing is that my hair is not easily damaged so it wasn´t that bad after all haha! What I like about this product is that it has a nice spray (if you know what I mean). Some spray heat protectors end up more on the floor, on the ceiling than in your hair. This spray has a nice perfect spray and sprays evenly onto the hair in a mist rather than soaking up the hair. It has a pleasant scent as well. An important note is that it doesn´t stick your hair together like I have experienced with different heat protectors. Afer you spray the hair evenly with the product, you brush the hair through with a brush and then you´re good to go with a blow-dry etc.
Hair Shine Serum Drops - Toni & Guy
Like I mentioned before, I really do enjoy a nice hair oil. What is really important to me in a hair oil, is that it doesn´t make my hair look oily when applied and that it has a pleasant scent as well as stilling keeping the hair lightweight. I really think that this product has all that. It simply adds shine (in the not greasy way) and makes your hair feel and look healthy and glowing.
Extreme Style Creation Hairspray - Toni & Guy
I don´t really reach for hairsprays that often since I don´t really do hairstyles that require me to use a hairspray, but when I do, I like the spray to hold onto my hairstyle for at least a couple of hours. This hairspray is said to be a no. 5 hold, which is pretty strong and promises that you will get a good hold. I have used this product twice now, and I used it when I had just finished up curling my hair. Usually, when I curl my hair, my hair holds the curl itself pretty well in my opinion, but somehow it did the opposite for my hair when using this hairspray on freshly curled waves.. what could have gone wrong you might ask...? Well, I am not quite sure haha! At first, when you spray it directly onto the hair it feels like it would hold onto anything. But if you touch it the slightest, the hair softened up and dropped the curl hold and made it look more like a natural straight/wavy hair - which was not what I was going for. I will give this product another go, and I hope that it will work next time I use it!
