Hi lovelies, I hope that you are all doing well and thank you for stopping by my blog today. I want to start a series on my blog called Beauty Corner
where I share with you different makeup facts and makeup secrets.
The idea behind this is to give you, my lovely readers, some tips and tricks on how to get the most out of each product, how to perfect your techniques and give you some cool facts that you may/may not know about that exact product.
Today, I will be starting this series with concealer, 10 facts about concealer.1. Apply before/after foundation?
There´s always been a debate about whether to apply concealer before or after foundation, but it all comes down to the person. Some like to apply it before foundation due to better cover up problem areas (like blemishes or dark circles) for a smoother end result. Some apply concealer after foundation, and I personally do that myself. I don´t struggle with blemishes or red spots etc. so I usually go in with my favorite concealer Mac Pro Longwear Concealer
to cover up dark circles when needed and I find that lasting well throughout the day, and working for me of course.2. Go one-two shades lighter:
When it comes to choosing the right shade for your concealer all comes down to simply choosing one-two shades lighter than your foundation. If you´re applying concealer to dark or red areas, using one shade lighter than the rest of your makeup will help to even out those tones. Be wary not to go too much lighter (or darker) with the product, though, as it can come out looking like you´re wearing too much makeup.
To achieve the evenest distribution, apply concealer along the bottom of your eye in four or five small dots.Using a makeup sponge (beauty blender), gently blot the concealer into the skin. Applying in dots will help even, crease-free distribution of the concealer.
4. Keep it from looking caked on:
It´s always a good idea to prime your face/eyes before applying any kind of makeup on them. It will prevent you from having a "caked on look". Apply a good moisturizer to your face, as dry skin underneath concealer, can make it look packed on.
5. Use it as a primer:
A great primer will always make your eyeshadow last a lot longer, we all know the drill, especially if you´re planning a long night or you´ve got eyelids that are more on the oily side to begin with. Because of concealer´s consistency, it works as a smooth, slip-free base for your eyeshadow, plus it will help to make your eyeshadow colors more vivid because it neutralizes your eyelid color first.
6. Green concealer:
Green concealers neutralize red zones on the face, such as blemishes or red spots that may occur. Use green concealer to better cover up acne, but don´t use green on darker parts of your face such as dark circles or spots.
7. Yellow concealer:
Yellow helps to even out the skin tone overall, so use yellow on your face in areas that need equalizing. Yellow is the safest concealer color and works well for women who need basic concealing in general.8. Pink/red/orange concealer:
Pink/red concealer works to neutralize the dark blue or purplish areas of your face, such as dark circles or spots, just like green concealer does as well.9. Make it last all day:
A great way to make your makeup last all day is by locking it in place with some loose powder. By using loose powder to set your face, you will make your makeup last a lot longer than if you didn´t.10. Use it to clean up excess makeup:
A trick on how to clean up excess makeup is by dipping a concealer brush (or: a small brush/even a cotton swab) in your concealer, and simply clean up the area that needs to be fixed and covering it up the same time. You can also use this trick to perfect your eyeliner, if you want to perfect your winged eyeliner, simply take a winged brush/angled brush, dip it in the concealer and even your eyeliner out. Concealer works great as a makeup eraser as well as for lipstick. If you are going for a perfect bold lip, you can use the same technique on your lipstick to make it as perfect as you wish for.
